The Japanese 'Ma' trend brings peace and Zen to Formland
At the Formland Autumn fair visitors will be able to take some time out to relax and reflect thanks to the creative efforts of Atelier Cph, who will be providing a sensory breathing space in their minimalist trend café Ma.
When Formland Autumn invites the interior and design industry to experience a world of design and inspiration at MCH Messecenter Herning on 16-19 August 2018, it will be with a new partner on the team. Copenhagen design studio Atelier Cph is the creative force behind the trend café Ma, a combination of Japanese minimalism and Scandinavian aesthetics where all sensory perceptions have been designed to make you feel calm, relaxed and balanced.
Ma is a Japanese word that pays homage to a life where we surround ourselves with less things and focus on the space between them. It's a growing trend in areas such as interiors, architecture and music - and is also very relevant to Formland visitors:
"At a time of excess consumption and cluttered homes, Ma emphasises the need to surround ourselves with less, and value the things we choose more. The world we want to create with the Ma trend café is one that provides time and space for peace, breaks and reflection", explains trend forecaster Sara Ingemann from Atelier Cph, and continues:
"It's about removing unnecessary items from our rooms, so we can focus on the slow and sustainable. Both Nordic and Japanese design have inspired us here. The minimalist lines, high quality materials and, not least, their mode of expression and design DNA, create something quite unique. This is equally reflected in the trend café's menu, which has been prepared by sushi restaurant Yutaka, a place that also practices the combination of Japanese and Scandinavian design and ambiance".
New business partner
Behind the trend café Ma is Atelier Cph, a strong duo consisting of art director Mandy Rep and trend forecaster Sara Ingemann. Formland is looking forward to the new partnership:
